The Concours d'Elegance of America is one of the most prestigious car shows in the world.
A world class parade of excellence, by invitation only, from some of the finest collector automobiles in the country.
A first this year was the Concours Track Event at Michigan International Speedway. Where registered owners of cars are invited to bring their machines to MIS on Friday, July 29, 2011 and drive on the super speedway.
After being held at Meadow Brook Hall on the Oakland University Campus for the last 32 years, this year the venue has changed to the beautiful grounds and golf course of The Inn At St John's in Plymouth, Michigan.
Parking was in another location and we were shuttled by bus to the event which was a bit complicated. The arrangement on the hotel grounds felt crowded and a little confusing. Which will no doubt be worked out in years to come. However, the weather was good and right for photos, I can't complain to much about 90 degrees and clear, sunny skies.
100 years of Indy car racing, was a highlight this year, with a collection of 33 historic Indy race cars, set up in a starting grid pattern.
Lincoln had an amazing class of cars being in its hundredth year and of course the Super Cars and Super Sedans Class is always a favorite.
Among many other classes were:
American Muscle
100 years of Chevrolet
Chrome and Color, The Fifties
Jazz Age 1915 to 1927
Pre War European
Auburn Cord
The First 125 Years of Mercedes-Benz
Ridler Trophy Winners
Featured Designer: Chuck Jordan
Continental
Classic Era
Post-War European
Post-War Sports Car
Just to name a few
