We have seen lots of pictures and write ups of the Mustang Boss 302 in the last few months of 2010,
but our first formal introduction came at the Woodward Dream Cruise at the Ford Motor Company display in Ferndale Michigan.
Only days before the Dream Cruise, Ford officially announced the availability of a Boss 302 in 2012.
Much to our surprise and delight, Ford had a beautiful display of Boss 302s available for the Ford enthusiast at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
All four available colors were represented and the cars looked fantastic. Competition Orange and Kona Blue for the Boss302 and Silver/Red or Black/Red for the Luguna Seca models. There was also a Luguna Seca on a rotisserie type stand showing off the undercarriage.
The C stripe graphics are done very well and pay homage to the '69 Boss 302 and that eras hockey stick type decals.
Brembo brakes are standard on the Boss 302, as well as adjustable front and rear shocks and a quad exhaust system with outlets at the rear of the car and at the front of the rear tires which after a brief demonstration at the show makes it sound more like a '69 Boss Trans Am Car than any production car we have heard in the last 40 years. See photos of the exhaust system below.
At the heart of this beast is a specially tuned Coyote V8, Fords new 440 horsepower, Hi-Po 302 4V Ti-VCT, all aluminum, naturally aspirated V8 engine. One of Fords modular breeds with with 4 high-lift camshafts, 32-Valves and Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) built purely as a Mustang performance engine.
The Laguna Seca Package is equipped with a special racing group of options that are all business, a huge front air splitter, a Three-Gauge Package on the top of the dash board, a rear chassis stiffening, stabilizer brace, the rear seat is removed and the car is stripped down to the bare racing essentials.
The Mustang Boss302 was the centerpiece of the show and wasn't easy to get photos of but I think you'll agree, we did pretty well.
