Ann Arbors Rolling Sculpture Car Show brought to us by Bill Crispin Chevrolet and the Ann Arbor Main Street Association was in good form this year with more spectacular show cars and some near perfect weather despite all the heat we have had lately.
Into its 16th Year the event showcases a number of beautiful concours quality automobiles along with a variety of regular drivers and a few other special highlights this year, including;
- A collection of Renstat Racing Porsches -
- A 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “Gullwing” - which soars the iconic 300SL Gullwing into the 21st century.
- A 2011 Audi R8 Spyder - the amazing 525 horse power, 5.2 Liter V10 Audi supercar, developed into a roadster.
This is a free event with most of Ann Arbors Main Street filled with show cars spilling into the adjacent Washington, Liberty, and Ashley Streets.
Now this years show was a little disappointing in comparison to previous years, in size and the way it was put together.
until... we found the other show cars displayed in the back parking lot in-between Liberty and Main Street behind the Renaissance building, Middle Kingdom area, (or what used to be the Klines parking lot for you old timers, like me) which I would guess not a lot of people knew about judging from the foot traffic back there.
After walking the show and taking a few hundred photos for our archives we had a bite to eat and evaluated the show and our work at the Grizzly Peak, one of Ann Arbors Premier brew pubs, which I highly recommend for relaxed dinning in a friendly, cozy atmosphere with terrific service and some local brew.
So, for some special cars and good times the whole family can enjoy
