In late February after a Michigan winter most of us here in the Detroit area are ready for spring.
A nice way to break up another icy cold day is to spend some time under the hot lights of an indoor car show.
The Detroit Autorama has been held in Cobo Hall since the early 60s and is one of the biggest custom car shows in the Northeast.
700,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space filled with classic original cars, historic race cars, and the cars we all came for, the big money, custom cars.
A labor of love and competition for creative people with a desire to make their car nicer, faster and shinier ;) than the other guy or gal.
The attention to detail is amazing on these custom cars inside and out, polished and painted to perfection.
Some special features of the event were,
A group of extraordinary, driver behind the engine, 60s era drag racing cars.
A display of some Chuck Miller creations, including the famous Red Baron.
Local manufacturers like Ford, GM and Chrysler get to show off their latest works,
and I was surprised to see a Cobo Center basement filled with tuners, rat rods, and other not so showy vehicles, takes all types I guess.
Annually, the end of February.
